Try It Out Tuesday - #23

Hi all, Madge here for another Tuesday - trying out a Kenny K image called "Tex", a new release for July.  I am way ahead of schedule with this one as Denise and some of the DT are baking basking in the sunshine and having a blast at CHA in Las Vegas.  Denise graciously invited me along, but we have a Wedding.......  and if I missed it, my name would be MUDge.

Meet "Tex", a July Release from Kenny K.  I have a thing about blue eyes, so I tried to give him those "Paul Newman" eyes......dating myself, aren't I??!!  Can't say I've seen many cowboys walking around without shirts on, but if they are out there -- YEE HA!!
On the inside of the card I wrote:
 "Herd" you like six-packs.
This one
  • has no calories --
  • is easy on the eyes --
  • is really easy to mail.
There are two gals that come to mind on the Whimsy DT that do the Kenny K images to absolute perfection, Patricia Garcia and LaJenette Garcia.  I don't know if they are related, but these two gals really do justice to the provocative images of Kenny K.
Materials:
"Tex" from KennyK's Cool Dude series, for Whimsy Stamps, Cowboy Die Set (Whimsy Shapeology), Copic paper, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic Markers E01, E11, E13, E70, E71, R20, E35, E39, E27, B81, B85, C01, C4, C7.  TH Black Soot, Mahogany, and Antique Linen Distress Inks, Glossy Accents (boots and horseshoes), Inca Gold rub on paste, Card stock, DP and button from stash.
*NEW Cowboy Die Set*NEW Tex
Next week (Aug. 6th) I'm going to step into my box again, but with Scrapbook Pages......  and maybe a Wedding Photo or two...... lol  See you then!
Until next week,  "Stamp up a storm, ink up a wish, and send it on to brighten someone's day".

Whimsy Stamps - "Try It Tuesday - #2

Hi all, Madge here for the second edition of "Try it Tuesday" for Whimsy Stamps!

Don't we all just love Flourishes!  I'm guilty of not using them enough - or even to their full potential.  But I LOVE them, and they are so versatile and look so elegant and classy.

P1010356

Here is a card from my archives. Most of my cards are made for a special person, this one was no exception - I found it really difficult to part with, but it went to a good and caring home.  (And is probably residing in a shoebox somewhere in storage).

One of the stamps sets that I absolutely adore is  "Lavish Flourishes, Rainbow Echo Designs"

Today, I'm going to show you how to use those flourishes in different ways to get them onto your desk, inked up and ready to use for quick elegant cards.

    ~   ~   ~    ~

Do you love those fancy pearl or gem flourishes that come on a sheet of acetate ready to apply?  Think about stamping a Lavish Flourish onto card stock with Versamark or colored ink.

Apply  glue to where you want to place your pearls or gems for the same, and more economical substitute.P1020087 copy

embossing powder can take your breath away when sponged with a color.

My sample is simple - but think of the possibilities.

Another quick sample of using a flourish is to mirror image P1020084 copy the flourish and separate it with a strip of paper or a knotted ribbon.

I've used cream and black for my sample.

If you feel you've been cheated this week not seeing an image card - I have used a Kenny K image called "Troublemaker".

Cordelia – Kraftin Kimmie

Hi all, Madge here for another Wonderful Wednesday!
The stamp of choice for today is Cordelia from Kraftin' Kimmie. P1000957 copyIsn’t she a sweetie!!??  Coloring her was sooooo much fun.  The camera doesn’t pick up the iridescent highlights, but they are there.  I used Copic Markers toP1000955 copy color the image.

I sponged a DP cut from Spellbinders Labels 17 for the background and a couple of DP’s from Echo Park “Splash collection” to fit into the Fun in the Sun theme for OCS this month. As this card will be mailed, I tried to keep the dimensionals to a minimum, using “dap” sealer for popping the fish, fins and bubbles away from the background.  The seaweed is another Spellbinders die which was sponged to give it some “pop”.
Hope you will participate in the August challenge at OCS – for a chance to win OCS $$$.  ~ Rubber Hugs ~
