Whimsy "Try It Tuesday" 7 - Tri Shutter Card

Hi all,  Well this is a duplicate of the post below because blogger will not allow me to update my editing.
Today, my card is a Tri Shutter Card using a stamp set called Spring Tulips, a stamp set of 8 from Momas Collection.  P1020380 copy

 Scanned images

1.  Start with a piece of card stock 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.
2.  Along the top and bottom long edge, measure in 3/4" and draw a line from the 2" to 7" mark.  (Cut on this line).
3. Rotate your card 90 degrees and score between the cut lines @ 2", 3", 6" and 7".
4. Score at 4.25" and 6.25 on space on the outer edge of cut line.  The (m) and (v) indicate mountain and valley fold).
I chose to cut a mat from Chocolate Chip and DP (Magnolia Spring Blossom, from Michele R Designs) to embellish the card.  P1020384 copyI also cut an image of Tulips and matted it with Pink.  The matted and colored image was centered between the arms of the opening.   A matted sentiment was popped in behind the image.  Three bows were colored, cut out and used to embellish the back flap. Once glued down glossy accents was applied on top.
The Flower Lace was sponged with pink and added to the bottom of the card.
Materials used: Cardstock:  SU Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, White Xpress It blending card. Memento Tuxedo Black ink,  Copic Markers:  R81, R83, R85, YG91, YG93, YG25.  Glossy Accents, Flower Lace from stash, shaped die.
Hoping this makes sense to you, and I hope you will try a tri shutter card to give away to make someone's day.

Whimsy "Try It Tuesday" #6

Hi all - I can't believe we are at Whimsy Newsletter #6.
I have another tutorial for you today in the form of a "Break-a-way" card.  I've done a couple of different versions of it here and here, for the tutorial in the past.  Today I'm going to show you a different card using "Sympathy Bugs" by Silvia Zet.  I prefer to call them Cuddle Bugs because they are just tooooo cute.
P1020342 copy
When the card is pulled open - here is what you see.P1020344 copy
Card size:  6 1/4" x 4 3/4
Materials:  Xpress It Blending Card (3 7/8" circle - sponged with TH Distress ink "Stormy Sky" and "Picket Fence".
Memento Tuxedo Black ink,
Copics: Bugs: E11, E13, E17, E19; Leaves: YG91, YG97, G99; Wings: RV91, RV93
Sakura Starburst Pen (wings); Glossy Accents - wings and antennae of bugs. DSP: Webster's Pages; Flowers - Whimsy Buds and from Stash; Spellbinders Scalloped Circle die, Cardstock - navy and Midnight Muse.
For the my card measuring  6 1/4" x 4 3/4" the following pieces were cut:
4 - 3 1/8" x 4 3/4" (navy),
DSP 6" x 4 1/2",
runner: 5 3/4" x 2 1/4" (navy)
Sentiment mat:  5 3/4" x 3 1/4" (navy)
Sentiment:  5 1/2" x 3" (white). 4 - 1" circles
Adhesives:  Dimensionals or foam tape, 2 large glue dots.
Punches:  SU Word Window Punch, 1" circle punch, MS Fern Punch.
Tutorial and Pictures to follow shortly
  1. Choose image that can be split in half  - stamp onto white cardstock

2.  Draw a pencil line to mark the cut lines from the image,

3.  Stamp image onto lightweight computer paper or Post It note.  Cut out.
Use repositionable tape to place over top image.  Sponge with TH "Stormy Sky and Picket Fence".

4.  Cut image into desired shape  (3 7/8" Circle)

      5.  Carefully cut image apart.

6.  Cut mat for image.
 7.  Remove one side of cut image and draw a pencil line on the cut edge of the image.
(changing to orange so the pencil lines will show.  this will be your runner piece.)

8.  Draw a line 1/4" from each edge of runner and lengthwise down the center.

9.  Line up the end of the SU Window Punch at edge of 1/4" line and centered along the center line. Punch at left and right side.

Your runner will now look like this.

10.  Place a dimensional in center of two of the circles or flowers.

11.  Slip the circles or flowers under the runner so that the dimensional pops out of the window slot.

12.  Remove backing from dimensional, line up #3 and #4 and adhere.  Make sure the circles or flowers will move easily.

13.  Place foam tape at the spots marked 1 - 6.   Place split image to get the center closing mark and place the foam tape about 1/8" away from edge.

(This is where my camera battery gave out) Be back soon.. Funny how pictures don't turn out when the battery dies.......lol

 14. Remove the backing from the tape on the runner

15.  Place the matted sentiment onto the runner.  With the matted sentiment in place, adhere rows of foam tape along the top and bottom of the matted sentiment.  Snug it up to the mat.

16.  Attach your decorated split fronts to the backs, aligning the edges and making sure that the split is clear of any tape.

While I had my card apart for filming - I decided to change the sentiment.  (the other one mentioned a hug with a fold in the middle........  no folds in this card.

Hope you could follow my tutorial.  Next week I will be showcasing one of the newest Whimsy releases for March.

In the meantime - stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to someone to brighten their day.

Whimsy "Try It Tuesday" #5

Hi all.  So nice of you to drop in! I have two cards for you today!

AHHHHH, nice weather is upon us here in the interior of BC.  Last week, the boys next door were shooting baskets with their Dad, which spurred me on to make a "BB" card using "Basketball" from the new Kenny K All Star Series, for Whimsy Stamps.\ Designer paper is from Authentic, cardstock from stash.

P1020272

This is a gatefold card, which is sitting partially open making my image look uneven:(  The scalloped edges along side the image are 1" circles overlapping to give the look of a large scalloped edge.  Image was colored with copic markers, stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Xpress It Blending cardstock.   P1020275

Do you have a "hoopster" in your life? Do you like instant gratification   ummm ....digital images?  Check out "Basketballer", a Little Gems Digital by Marika Collins for Whimsy Stamps. I love Marika's  sweet but cool collection of tween images!! P1020265 Thinking Basketball....I made a circle easel card.

Sentiment is another digital (set of 6) from Rainbow Echo Designs called Fast Lane Sentiments.

Cardstock from stash.

I love using Glossy Accents and in this card, I used it on the basketball "stopper" on the inside. (Unfortunately my glossy accents was not dry when I took the picture, and you can see the opaque drop.

Image was stamped onto Xpress It Blending card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with copic markers.

I also colored in the "STAR" on the sentiment and the stars and added glossy accents, which made it really pop.

Until next week, "stamp up a storm, ink up a Whimsy wish, and send it on to someone to make their day.

Whimsy "Try It Tuesday #4" - Side-by-Side Easel Tutorial

Hi all!  Welcome to "Try It Tuesday" #4.  Glad you could stop by!
Last week I showed a side-by-side Easel card using P1020236 copyWhimsy's Cottage Cuties "Spring Pick" by Elisabeth Bell.  Today I have a tutorial for the Side-by-side Easel card.  I really have to confess that when I really love an image - you can bet your bottom dollar that I'm going to use it more than once! Today is no exception!  I was blessed to have this image in among the Whimsy DT kit.  Wonderful!

This is very long, so if you have to go potty or grab a cuppa .......  do it now.  lol
Side-by-side Easel Card Tutorial:
Supplies:  Base cardstock  11" x 5",  Coordinating Border / Corner punch combo, Scoring tool, Cardstock for mats, DP for mats.  Also an image, colors you will use to color the image, coordinating cardstock (8 1/2" x 11") and Designer paper(s),  and a die cut or shape. (I will go into detail on other supplies I used at the end of this tutorial).
Step One:   Cut cardstock to measure 11" x 5", then select a border / corner punch combination that you would like to use.  Start with a corner punch working to the next corner - you will be able to see that your paper may need trimming to get a smooth transition.
P1020153-001For my sample, I used Martha Stewart's "Vintage Floral" border and corner.  I trimmed about 3/16" from my 11" length - but the 5" width was perfect.

Step Two:  a) Score your border punched piece in half.  b) Score halfway between your center line and the inside of your border.  c) Score halfway between a & b.
0153 copy

b - Valley fold
c - Mountain fold
a - Valley fold

Step Three:  Crease your score lines well with a bone folder.  P1020162

Step Four: proceed to "wallpaper" your base card.
Tip for getting those mats straight and looking great...
P1020169 copy

Open the front flap leaving the mountain and back valley fold holding your mat in place. Push your mat into the fold.  (At this point it can be wider and longer).  Hold the mat "sandwich" with your thumb and index finger and flip it over.
P1020173 copy
With a pencil, mark between spaces of border punch.P1020183 copy

If your width is  too wide mark it also.
Remove the mat and trim.0186

Easie, peasie and beautiful!!
Repeat the process for the front and back of the front flap.  P1020193

Step Five:  The paper that I originally chose for "wallpaper" looked insipid next to my image.  Tim to the rescue!!  (He's such a sweetie!)  Tim Holtz Mustard Seed Distress Ink, a sponge......... and the magic happened!!  Now I like it!P1020218 copy
P1020219 copy

Step Six:  After your wallpapering is complete you are in the home stretch. When adhering your image only apply adhesive to the left side, leaving the right unattached.  Fold your card together and adhere your image and embellishments.
Here is my card in the open easel position.  I love this look for displaying - it sits like an open book along with stability to hold anything you may want to put on your creation.
P1020225 copy

Here is my card in the closed (ready for mailing) position:P1020236 copy

Supplies added
Stamps:  Spring Pick, Sentiments from,Time Flies.
Dies: Vines Die Set, Circle and Scalloped Circle, MS border / corner punch.
Flowers - Whimsy Buds Ribbon & Buttons from stash  Misc:  Glossy Accents (headband flower), Tim Holtz Mustard Seed (DP), Stormy Sky (sky of image) and Spiced Marmalade (Flowers and Border), Flat back pearls, Xpress it Blending Card, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Copic Markers.
Hope you are seeing spring wherever you may be.  Our snow has almost disappeared (knock on wood).  Still time for some more - but it won't last!!
