Lots of card-making has been going on, but I've not been blogging about it.</p> <p>April is a calendar filled with Birthdays. Here are a few different cards, for a few different friends. They won't be checking my blog, so I'll get back in the swing of things by showing them here.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-DQRUmv5UHCo/U0TWzc9GWGI/AAAAAAAAD-Q/2Ld8uq0dKis/s1600-h/P1030251%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030251" border="0" alt="P1030251" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-c7nCl3cXyVU/U0TW0a8RfdI/AAAAAAAAD-Y/ZxRH10B0GXQ/P1030251_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="337" height="341"></a> </p> <p>This is the first card I made. Love using Frantage and Gesso overtop those beautiful Pion papers (gasp)! I can say that this was a lot of fun! <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-9kKHbSDQu48/U0TW1Be7XCI/AAAAAAAAD-g/rtkIo_3cMlw/s1600-h/P1030255%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030255" border="0" alt="P1030255" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-dbZGMuoJvM4/U0TW1uHskYI/AAAAAAAAD-o/v-PJRb-wxj4/P1030255_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="233" height="244"></a> </p> <p>I loved the card so much that it inspired me to try again - with a few minor little changes - below is what I came up with.</p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-CN8mDUN6HNs/U0TW2uS1p7I/AAAAAAAAD-w/3YB7h6ht-Lg/s1600-h/P1030249%25255B21%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030249" border="0" alt="P1030249" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-LuVuUh7GQWM/U0TW3QteYFI/AAAAAAAAD-4/g_9xTlYgTLU/P1030249_thumb%25255B22%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="467" height="484"></a> </p> <p></p> <p>My friend loves butterflies and mauve. I have to explain that this is W-A-Y out of the norm for me. Art said to me, "that is the most beautiful card that you have ever made". ok, that is what dh's are for, right!? To praise and make us feel like we are fantastic! I am just hoping my friend likes it.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>Another Birthday for another friend - who always gives me beautiful, 3-D creations.</p> <p>I decided to make the "all-the-rage" "Card in a Box". They are so much fun to make! Keeping in the theme of butterflies, flowers and such - this is what I came up with.<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nqsYeZQ0ufg/U0TW4aaQxlI/AAAAAAAAD_A/wFe5-w4rSUU/s1600-h/P1030256%25255B7%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 5px 5px 20px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030256" border="0" alt="P1030256" align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-aQ55fUR1UCQ/U0TW43qMJ-I/AAAAAAAAD_I/eJsjhJ34yJk/P1030256_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="310" height="287"></a> </p> <p>The box is filled with balloons (covered with glossy accents, of course), a bird, a butterfly, and a bit of swirly fillers. These are sooooo easy and fun to make!! and are so stinkin' cute and sooooo addictive!! I predict more of these in the future!</p> <p> <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-I2Tj0SsgoKY/U0TW5v6yd-I/AAAAAAAAD_Q/ffVSXTrVo40/s1600-h/P1030261%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030261" border="0" alt="P1030261" align="right" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-llHDGiS0Aos/U0TW6B_-AzI/AAAAAAAAD_Y/9P0-DIHTb90/P1030261_thumb%25255B11%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="275" height="323"></a> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>We are not to the middle of the month yet - and I have about 8 more cards to go, in addition to the 5 Magnolia Birthday Group names plus 4 swap cards and two thank you cards...... </p> <p>I hope this has inspired you to "stamp up a storm, ink up a wish" and send it to someone to make their day.</p> <p>Rubber hugs, inky wishes, Cricut Chirps and Cuttlebug Squishes,</p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-drOEKz_MWF0/U0TW691dT1I/AAAAAAAAD_g/SSak92RVIto/s1600-h/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529%25255B12%25255D.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="madge0902 (1)" border="0" alt="madge0902 (1)" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-rHUnKVsmV40/U0TW7hV-vqI/AAAAAAAAD_o/QyQHak6dU_s/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529_thumb%25255B15%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="263" height="171"></a></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7030373614989037382.post-30419389256252105602013-12-03T02:12:00.001-08:002013-12-03T02:31:13.462-08:00Try It Out Tuesday #37 for Whimsy Stamps<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
Hi all for another Try It Out Tuesday. Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2934" target="_blank">Elf </a> <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2934" target="_blank">Frame by Crissie Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps</a>, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59&products_id=2810" target="_blank">Holiday Slider Sentiment</a>, Lynx White Copic card, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic Markers: R00, E00, R20,, R22, R14, YG03, E95, E93, E97, C7, C4, and G85. Spellbinders Lacey Square die, misc. stamps from stash. I started with cardstock (white) cut to 11" x 4 1/4". Finished card (envelope size) is 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Regardless of the size or width of cardstock it is easy to fold without a lot of complicated measuring. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-pb_YJ-qfBCU/Up2uVGXBWvI/AAAAAAAAD78/toxU5AQi38s/s1600-h/P1030141%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030141" border="0" height="158" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Er-24uZ66wQ/Up2uV2A17tI/AAAAAAAAD8E/AAJYh4yHaNs/P1030141_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030141" width="324" /></a><u>Step One:</u> Find the center top and bottom on the longest side of your cardstock. Disregard my dashed lines at each side.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<u><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ak5ROUQY9bI/Up2uWddn36I/AAAAAAAAD8M/Ke5h8SRmTO4/s1600-h/P1030143%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030143" border="0" height="210" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-789GHYIKQX8/Up2uW2oQoxI/AAAAAAAAD8Q/RlPDHvnrENM/P1030143_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030143" width="346" /></a></u><br />
<br />
<u>Step Two:</u> Pull the bottom edge up precisely at the bottom center mark and align that edge with the top center mark. Crease well. Repeat for other side.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-7xjw27gNiJ8/Up2uXSTKSeI/AAAAAAAAD8c/131UZTRvg5A/s1600-h/P1030157%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030157" border="0" height="212" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-HD64iDUSYIk/Up2uYPplt2I/AAAAAAAAD8g/zmSBE74h2v4/P1030157_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030157" width="309" /></a> <br />
<br />
<u>Step Three:</u> Unfold and rotate 180 degrees (top is now the bottom) and repeat step two. Crease well.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-6RSUQj3B4Tc/Up2uYnyFcbI/AAAAAAAAD8s/l7EBbE_v2Zk/s1600-h/P1030170%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030170" border="0" height="197" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-FdfJ9FuPID4/Up2uZIfzYpI/AAAAAAAAD8w/olHAhCHiv-Q/P1030170_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030170" width="304" /></a> <br />
<u>Step Four:</u> Unfold. In pencil, mark the center point between the top and bottom triangle. Line those two marks up and score. This line will dissect the center point of the X. (Shown with a crease mark)<br />
<u>Step Five:</u> In pencil mark where the X meets the edge of the paper top and bottom. Line the two marks up and score. Shown by dashed line.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-BFH1dppcw-E/Up2uZ40seeI/AAAAAAAAD88/YVtXiyAyU8U/s1600-h/P1030172%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030172" border="0" height="206" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-hKTtTVCrnUA/Up2uaS2O6kI/AAAAAAAAD9E/ssdBF3GJ0dA/P1030172_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030172" width="351" /></a> <br />
<br />
<u>Step Six:</u> The only vertical folds will be at each end of your cardstock. This will be a valley fold. Each side of the center Diamond will be a Mountain, Valley and Mountain fold.<br />
<u>Step Seven:</u> Decorate your card. eg. Randomly stamp the sections between the two side rectangles and the diamond; Adhere DP to each triangular section. (Measure front diamond - subtract 1/8" and cut a square). Cut that square diagonally. Additional pieces of cardstock can be added to elongate the side panels. <br />
I chose to use a matted image for the front diamond and used two lacey square die cuts layered atop each other to give me an 8-sided snowflake. (ok, I know that snowflakes are 6-sided - mine is a mutant snowflake). As you can see the very bottom point adds stability to the card itself.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-YMFiKKTFtgQ/Up2ub2UUigI/AAAAAAAAD9M/2oNulltZw9c/s1600-h/P1030178%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="P1030178" border="0" height="312" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-4NsNLwkKr7Q/Up2ucgVLSkI/AAAAAAAAD9U/TZtptjPf1aA/P1030178_thumb%25255B9%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="P1030178" width="523" /></a>As you can see the very bottom point adds stability to the card itself. I cut a lacey square die in half to add to the side panels of the card, then added two die cuts and a sentiment.<br />
Hope my card has inspired you to try a Diamond Fold card yourself. <br />
Rubber hugs, Whimsy wishes,<br />

Hi all, another Tuesday and my inspiration today came from a drawn image in my "Smash Book" of ideas. I don't know where it originally came from but I have a big note to myself to use a MS punch called Cherish. This is a free standing card supported by the side flaps.<br />
I am using an image from the November release of the Little Cottage Cuties Collection called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_49&products_id=2940" target="_blank">SugarPlum Faery</a>", illustrated by Elisabeth Bell for Whimsy Stamps. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-B3gYGw_jlWA/UpSmLg-G2zI/AAAAAAAAD6I/6HZus-y6H98/s1600-h/P1030134%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030134" border="0" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-a4kTfYqy_8E/UpSmMfujhbI/AAAAAAAAD6Q/NBkwts9u7OI/P1030134_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-color: -moz-use-text-color; border-style: none; border-width: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030134" /></a> <br />
This card looks very sparkly in real life as I used my favorite Sakura Stardust Pen and Shabby White Frantage. If you haven't tried using Frantage -- it is something to put on your list. <br />
Materials used: White Lynx Cardstock, Memento Ink, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_49&products_id=2940" target="_blank">SugarPlum Faery</a>" stamp, Copic Markers: Skin: R00, E02, R20, Hair: E40, E42, E31, YR31, Other: V04, V05, V01, V17, Y06, Y18,YG03, G20. Ranger Distress Inks (Squeezed Lemonade, Dusty Concord), Versamark, Shabby White Frantage, MS Cherish punch, Sakura Stardust Pen, DP (Basic Grey - Plumeria), Perfect Plum ink and Elegant Eggplant C/S. <br />
I started with 2 sheets of white cardstock cutting each in half at 5 1/2". a,b,c,d cut in the following lengths.<br />
a) 5 1/2" x 7 1/4" - Score at 1 1/2" and 5 5/8" - Border punch - this will leave a center section of 4 1/8". <br />
b) 5 1/2" x 6 1/4" - Score at 1" and 5 1/8" - Border punch - leaving a 4 1/8" center section.<br />
c) 4 1/16" x 8 1/2" - Score at 5 1/2" (This becomes the front flap that holds the image) - Border punch the edge of the largest section.<br />
All edges were sponged with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.<br />
d) Used for stamped image. After my image was stamped, I stamped another image onto Post It, masked my image and sponged all around the image with Squeezed Lemonade, then randomly sponged versamark to sprinkle Frantage onto. Heat set the Frantage from the underside and brushed off any excess. Sponged Perfect Plum around image. The image was cut 1/2" smaller than the inside panel of the card, matted and adhered to the front flap. <br />
a is the back of the card, c (the shortest section) is adhered <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Y6UI4XzWDoE/UpSmNSqk6rI/AAAAAAAAD6Y/Iglj4z9WVvo/s1600-h/P1030137%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030137" border="0" height="244" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-5ztMssbGxbM/UpSmN2Px8UI/AAAAAAAAD6g/q8M6UquRsHU/P1030137_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px 0px;" title="P1030137" width="215" /></a>to the center section of a. b is then adhered only at the center section to a and c. The flap with the image attached flips down. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-xsFeJ8FrwjA/UpSmO1NPvhI/AAAAAAAAD6o/W75gRIYLO5M/s1600-h/P1030136%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030136" border="0" height="285" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/--8C0eMzkDIo/UpSmPqaLrqI/AAAAAAAAD6w/v1tqAigoiGI/P1030136_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030136" width="338" /></a> <br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I added a matted sentiment over DP and Cardstock. To add some bling to the sides, I sponged and frantaged strips and adhered them to a thin mat.<br />
I hope my card has inspired you to stamp up a storm and ink up a wish and send it on to someone to make their day.<br />

Hi all, and a Happy Tuesday it is!! My "little boy" showed up around 10 pm after a very long drive from the frozen north. I was so happy to see him! He didn't even tell his Dad, as he didn't want me "fretting" (yep, I'm a fretter) about his drive through nasty weather. Totally a very nice surprise!! <br />
As much as I dislike snow, it is inevitable that it will happen. I've decided to create my favorite type of snow -- ARTIFICIAL!! I used a sweet little image from the Crissie Armstrong collection for Whimsy Stamps, called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2854" target="_blank">Penguin Happy Mail</a>, an October release. Cute as can be!<br />
<span style="color: #e50000;"></span><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-OlRgtp9V_ro/UotUpppeIxI/AAAAAAAAD48/7YIeixGEhWk/s1600-h/P1030129%252520copy%25255B12%25255D.jpg"><img alt="P1030129 copy" border="0" height="575" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-zcJL6A0tWMs/UotUqhWoNdI/AAAAAAAAD5E/dF7Cd9RrAtA/P1030129%252520copy_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="P1030129 copy" width="565" /></a> <br />
<div align="center">
Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2854" target="_blank">Penguin Happy Mail</a> Lynx White Copic paper, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic Markers: YR23, YR24, R24, R29, B23, B28, B79, B60, Y28. Ranger Distress inks: Stormy Sky and Barn Door. Sakura Stardust Pen, Glossy Accents, Art Deco Snow Writer, Snowflake punch, misc. Snowflake stamps, Alphabet Stamp and 1/4" and 1" circle punch. Circle Scallop die. Red, White and Navy Cardstock.</div>
<div align="left">
After coloring my image I die cut it into a scalloped circle, sponging with Stormy Sky while still in the die. The image was then popped onto a piece of white cardstock (randomly stamped with snowflake stamps, using Stormy Sky) and matted with Red cardstock.. </div>
<div align="left">
I decided against chopping the width of the navy card base and added a colorful border of a snowflake background layered with 1" circle punches and additional snowflakes to finish off a 5 1/2" square card. Punched snowflakes were all sponged with Ranger Stormy Sky.</div>
<div align="left">

"Let It Snow" (not until December 24th, I say under my breath) </div>
<div align="left">
Three products that I use often are my copic markers, Sakura Stardust Pen and Glossy Accents. Layering the trio gives the effect of a twinkling Christmas Tree Light.<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-vbSzZuARxsU/UotUtOtD39I/AAAAAAAAD5c/pCDKYGCePg0/s1600-h/P1030132%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030132 copy" border="0" height="389" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-7_RkrKqWgIc/UotUtwKA1ZI/AAAAAAAAD5k/EKlWHkETRJ4/P1030132%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030132 copy" width="302" /></a></div>
<div align="left">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
OH! If you look closely, you will see little outlined circles...... they are made by stamping off the tip of a pencil eraser inked with (Ranger) Stormy Sky. The entire image was outlined in these little circles.<br />
I hope my card gives you some inspiration to stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to someone to brighten their day.<br />

Hi all, I'm huddled in my house looking up at the hills all around with a skiff of snow - but that's ok......as long as it stays up in the hills. On the bright side, there are fun things to do in the winter, and I'm leaping ahead to January and February when outdoor ice skating is possible. <br />
With full intention to add some sparkle to your day with my creation, I've used<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-VYXGYVOoOe0/UoILDsuiI4I/AAAAAAAAD4E/EnQ8wEblVQw/s1600-h/P1030128%252520copy%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030128 copy" border="0" height="239" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-sXPP6zcVysc/UoILEdeoWPI/AAAAAAAAD4M/dBfVofSbwfA/P1030128%252520copy_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030128 copy" width="244" /></a> a pretty image called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_68&products_id=2861" target="_blank">"Skater" from the Time 4 Tea Collection illustrated by Jo Davies for Whimsy Stamps.</a> Love the big bright eyes. The card base is a 6" x 6" tent card matted. Visions of doing something entirely different was set aside and a 5" x 5" box frame was added, cutting an oval to give more contrast for the image, which is fussy cut and popped up with 3-D foam dots. Also had some fun playing with "fran-tage" and two "old" snowflake punches rescued from my give-a-way punch collection. We all tend to forget about some of those "oldies, but goodies" and head for the new dies. <br />
Materials: White Cardstock: 12" x 6", 6" x 6" (frame) 6" x 5" for die cut oval. <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_68&products_id=2861" target="_blank">"Skater" from the Time 4 Tea Collection illustrated by Jo Davies for Whimsy Stamps</a>, White Copic paper (Cougar), Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers: R00, E11, R20, E40, E33, E35, R22, R24, B01, C01, C00. Oval Die, Floral Oval die, Designer Papers, scraps of white and turquoise (snowflakes), DecoArt Snow Writer for snow, VersaMark, Shabby White Fran-tage, and a ton of Clear glitter. This card sparkles so much in real life you need sun glasses!<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-_y9GTUJFXlY/UoILFdSiSWI/AAAAAAAAD4U/UIVzzK0MTmk/s1600-h/P1030127%252520copy%25255B16%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030127 copy" border="0" height="659" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-m84W7u84Esg/UoILGQbtEwI/AAAAAAAAD4c/vdwT36W9AP4/P1030127%252520copy_thumb%25255B14%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030127 copy" width="505" /></a> <br />
If you look closely, you will see that her scarf is sheer..... or at least, I tried to make it look sheer. I punched the snowflakes, sprayed them with adhesive and dipped them in glitter. My tweezers are beautifully glittered also.<br />
Hope my card has inspired you in some way to stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to someone to brighten their day.<br />

Hi all, is it getting nippy in your little corner of the world? We’ve had sunny days here in the Okanagan Valley, but the warmth sure has vanished. We’ve been busy putting the 5th Wheel, boat, pool and yard to bed for the winter……. So now it’s on to preparations for that Big Day that comes around every December. I’m starting to think ahead, and as usual my brain is going nutz thinking of all the things that have to be accomplished.<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-AVvnsKD9vZk/UmZ6xwDBWnI/AAAAAAAAD0Q/YOliqsU8YXQ/s1600-h/clip_image002%25255B9%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="clip_image002" border="0" height="407" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-AyEWf2wsRRc/UmZ6ylr9kCI/AAAAAAAAD0Y/WLpSi_blk-0/clip_image002_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" title="clip_image002" width="347" /></a> <br />

Hi all. I took a little break from stamping for a bit - my little furry friend has been under a great deal of duress, but he's still hanging in. Such a trooper, but is in need of a "human elevator" to get up and down our stairs...... which are EVERYWHERE in our house and outside. A reason to get snuggles all day long.<br />
I'm featuring a September release today - actually two stamps. <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=prod" target="_blank">Under the Mistletoe Boy</a>, and <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59&products_id=2805&zenid=7a3fb69faaaf8696e03995c9c513b4aa" target="_blank">Under the Mistletoe Girl</a> from the Time For Tea Collection at Whimsy Stamps. It is inevitable - Christmas will be here sooner than we know. If you are feeling the crunch already, check out the<a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=57&zenid=96f4cacff398546bbf09c9fa6461e137" target="_blank"> pre colored images</a> in the Whimsy Store. They are awesome and you can add your own take on them by adding glitter, gems, stickles, or glossy accents.<br />
<blockquote>
My card is a gatefold card with a little bit of a difference. Instead of scoring a regular 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" piece of cardstock at 2 1/8" and <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-sQGppP8ZP6M/Ul0JAw5krAI/AAAAAAAADys/sh1-VNoPgK8/s1600-h/P1020046%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1020046" border="0" height="484" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-OejWQCwFCbE/Ul0JBmkyJfI/AAAAAAAADy0/fsu3AdYlVZU/P1020046_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px;" title="P1020046" width="426" /></a> 7 1/8", I scored at 2" and 6 1/2" using a border punched mat to fill in the gap between the closure. I also finished off the inside by matching the scallops of front edges front and back. </blockquote>
I love using DP's and slashing into the pattern to slip the images in. <br />
I also cut a bookstand for the card and glued it on the back of the card in case the recipient would care to display it standing alone.<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-DmGOvBk2GnQ/Ul0JCgw2-VI/AAAAAAAADy8/VyoQHOS_vYA/s1600-h/P1020045%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img alt="P1020045" border="0" height="345" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-so8M4ik2ze8/Ul0JDWj6grI/AAAAAAAADzE/sjrqEOMXO2g/P1020045_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="P1020045" width="250" /></a> <br />
Materials used: Burgundy Cardstock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 2" and 6 1/2". DP cut to mat and cover. In our little corner of the world it was pretty cold today, thanks to a north easterly wind. BRRRRRR. </p> <p>For my project today, I've chosen a Kenny K New September release called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_35&products_id=2799&zenid=76d12b38c4458c15b32e2528d11d6678" target="_blank">Harper Blue</a>. Now being Canadian, that could mean a lot since our Prime Minister's name is "Harper". If you do a Google search for "Harper Blue", it leads you to an upscale Consignment Shop in Ventura, CA. Interesting!</p> <p>On to <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_35&products_id=2799&zenid=76d12b38c4458c15b32e2528d11d6678" target="_blank">Harper Blue</a>, from KennyK's OMG <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/#">Collection<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-w_BcBkDaA14/UkFcAAwH2hI/AAAAAAAADxY/dcqa1wjnFrM/s1600-h/P1030109%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030109 copy" border="0" alt="P1030109 copy" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/--i4FSma0h0g/UkFcAyu7XYI/AAAAAAAADxg/703GFEJ1mVc/P1030109%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="303" height="302"></a>©Kenny Kiernan for Whimsy Stamps.</a> I've chosen to show it in a different setting....... to show that not everything is Black and White. (Looking at the picture - I don't know what my brain was thinking.....or not thinking -- It looks like a wedding card....without the bride). </p> <p>On to the next view. </p> <p>I've used a technique called Peek-a-boo card, which shows the image turning into a colored image. Hi all. What do you do when you're feeling uninspired....?? I reached for my all-time favorite stamp sets, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=1340&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Lavish Flourishes</a>, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=876&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Time Flies</a> and <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=2530&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Vintage Maritime Transportation</a> -- The little black dress for stamp sets by Rainbow Echo Designs for Whimsy Stamps.<br />
We are going to get messy today! You may want to grab some latex, latex gloves that is. I'm going to show you how to do a truly beautiful background technique that has to be seen up close and personal to be appreciated.<br />
Materials: Base Card (8 1/2" x 11" - scored in half), Card front (4" x 5 1/4"), Stamps: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=1340&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Lavish Flourishes</a>, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=876&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Time Flies</a> and <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=2530&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Vintage Maritime Transportation</a>. Embossing Folder**, 3 - 4 Distress Inks***, Anti-Static Bag, Black StazOn ink, Versamark, Embossing Powder, Die Cut machine, heat tool and a blending tool (I prefer to work with sponges). <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=2604&zenid=b629be281838a3a8429e2e5b9514901f" target="_blank">Whimsy Compass Die</a>, Cardstock from stash.<br />
I am trying to work smart by making 4 cards for a monthly swap I participate in, and use Whimsy Stamps for my cards. Usually my cards entail far too much coloring and embellishments to send for swap cards, today's are going to be classic CAS.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-KK7Py7IFKVw/Ujg2PmraOJI/AAAAAAAADu8/o28gdcvjSXc/s1600-h/P1030042%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030042 copy" border="0" height="226" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-3nvH2l0ZLwc/Ujg2QniVltI/AAAAAAAADvA/NAFrur4TJ-g/P1030042%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030042 copy" width="294" /></a><br />
My card front pieces included 1 white, 1 previously made polished stone, 1 aqua paint chip, 1 beige paint chip and 1 yellow, all cut to 4" x 5 1/4". The Paint Chips are BEHR <strike>pinched,</strike> borrowed from our local Home Depot. I found them very slick and not wanting to grab color, but they were worth the experiment.<br />
With Black StazOn, randomly stamp images onto the card fronts. Stamp off the cardstock to give the illusion of motion.<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-x-7Mgb4x3M8/Ujg2RyCrKBI/AAAAAAAADvM/kpBqtdvT5dY/s1600-h/P1030051%252520copy%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030051 copy" border="0" height="268" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-KSL0AxZ1xMU/Ujg2TdsUEAI/AAAAAAAADvU/yM85T92EJh0/P1030051%252520copy_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1030051 copy" width="314" /></a> <br />
Using a blending tool and your choice of inks, work in an invisible oval. Start with the lightest color and work toward the edges. Leaving some of the original color of cardstock. Next work with a medium color, working towards the outer edges. Repeat with the darkest ink, which becomes the most dramatic color. To get a rich vibrant color on the outer edges, pounce your blending tool instead of blending.<br />
When you are satisfied with your blending, <u>set the inks with your heat gun </u>. After heating a tissue can be used to remove any residue by polishing the surface.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-v_nhlEice80/Ujg2UZlXhlI/AAAAAAAADvY/vmh4aEeckfo/s1600-h/P1030060%252520copy%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1030060 copy" border="0" height="189" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-M6gNxPY9V2U/Ujg2Ux6XUVI/AAAAAAAADvk/zpRBtXDExJw/P1030060%252520copy_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" title="P1030060 copy" width="244" /></a> Colors will become a little lighter with heating the inks.<br />
Take an anti-static bag (or used dryer sheet), and swipe it across the surface of the cardstock to remove any static that will attract embossing powder.<br />
Embossing Folder: Chose one with spaces between the design. (Swiss dots would <u>not</u> be a good choice).<br />
Open the embossing folder and swipe your Versamark (or ink resist) ink over the raised design of your folder. Insert your colored cardstock face down onto the side you applied Versamark. Close the folder and run through your die cutting machine. <br />
Very quickly, remove the cardstock from the folder and sprinkle with Embossing Powder. Flick the embossing powder off the cardstock and onto a piece of copy paper or embossing powder tray. If a lot of embossing powder sticks, a paintbrush can be used to remove excess powder. Clean your Embossing Folder with soapy water.<br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5BZMtRsNXH8/Ujg2WTu8dRI/AAAAAAAADvs/N_P3M2pQoXM/s1600-h/P1030063%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1030063 copy" border="0" height="221" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-sbnY2I3Zu-U/Ujg2XI52fOI/AAAAAAAADv0/0_NCLmrAh84/P1030063%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px 5px 5px 60px;" title="P1030063 copy" width="313" /></a> <br />
<br />
This picture shows the difference between applying the Versamark to the raised background (left) or the raised design (right).<br />
Heat the cardstock with a heat gun to melt the embossing powder.<br />
<br />
A variety of embossing powders can be used to get different effects. Iridescent Ice would be beautiful for a snowflake embossing folder.<br />
Here are my finished cards, along with the cardstock, colors of distress inks and embossing powders used.<br />

Inks: Spun Silk, Barn Door, Black Soot<br />

This last weekend was pretty sad around this household. My little Michou (14 years old Shih Tzu) became very ill. He had gotten into household garbage and devoured corn cobs – we’ve had 2 weeks of very strange behavior. Finally on Saturday morning I took him in to our Vet Clinic. He was very ill with the later diagnosis that there was two pieces of matter either in his colon or stomach. Today, I went to the clinic and spent an hour and a half just sitting with him. If the blockage does not move, the only other option would be to operate. At his age, it’s not an option. So Missie, my other little Shih Tzu and I spent the weekend trying to console each other at Michou’s absence. Of course DH flew into some isolated Lake near Whitehorse last week, and cannot be reached.<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-tZf4iCejyj8/Ui72feCldTI/AAAAAAAADs4/x6Y8maP7h00/s1600-h/P1030018%25255B13%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="P1030018" border="0" alt="P1030018" align="right" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-GCBoFcbTrSk/Ui72gXntsII/AAAAAAAADtA/FfUeRfjd0Aw/P1030018_thumb%25255B16%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="444" height="392"></a> <p>So on to a happier place! My project for today is a very colorful Autumn Card using the digital image <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_38&products_id=2782&zenid=dba424e2f4659ed15449a6ec0532bb81" target="_blank">Autumn Delight from StampArt Designs</a>. Katheryne also includes a bonus pack that you get with the original image. I do so like rich autumn colors of autumn leaves. I found a very easy way to color autumn leaves. <p> <p> <p> <p><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-tDx1LzZ3F5Q/Ui72hGz4tvI/AAAAAAAADtI/m0IuoN7KbDQ/s1600-h/P1030012-001%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="P1030012-001" border="0" alt="P1030012-001" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-ptVUfGo0508/Ui72hq-m9yI/AAAAAAAADtQ/Tg8Fsy-sLss/P1030012-001_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="296" height="228"></a> <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-qEiIr9_7Ojo/Ui72iquFQzI/AAAAAAAADtY/zDTMOJiFTck/s1600-h/P1030014-001%25255B2%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="P1030014-001" border="0" alt="P1030014-001" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-xwDi0r8841Q/Ui72je_e1lI/AAAAAAAADtg/iXgn1-_I9ME/P1030014-001_thumb.jpg?imgmax=800" width="244" height="228"></a>These autumn leaves were found in the digital bonus file. I printed off 4 sets of the bonus file onto copic cardstock. A total of 16 leaves. I scribble colored each leaf with copic markers, YR16, R24, and YG25. The colored leaves were then cut out individually, looking nice but leaving jagged edges with no definition. So I took out my Distress Ink (Tea Dye) and sponged color around the edges<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-65Iip3BgG0Q/Ui9_5nrftpI/AAAAAAAADuQ/cucyAyh-sbQ/s1600-h/P1030016-001%25255B1%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030016-001" border="0" alt="P1030016-001" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-CAZQlIOioTQ/Ui72k7QYRqI/AAAAAAAADuY/bYVc7g0O2AM/P1030016-001_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="281" height="271"></a> You can see the difference between the two. The distress inked leaves (on right) give the edges definition <p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-4i4VDyTqRoM/Ui9_7CB6_sI/AAAAAAAADug/A_O8BqqovK8/s1600-h/Front%252520Side%252520Step%252520Card%252520instr.%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="Front Side Step Card instr." border="0" alt="Front Side Step Card instr." align="left" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-ahuSnN-dz_Q/Ui9_7rdKXyI/AAAAAAAADuo/p6qjEnPgZKk/Front%252520Side%252520Step%252520Card%252520instr._thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="343" height="511"></a></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>For my Center Step Card, I started with a 6" x 11" piece of chocolate brown cardstock. </p> <p>1. Measure in 1.25" from right and left edge. Draw a vertical line from the 1" mark to the 6.5" mark and cut with an exacto knife. This will give you a Right, Inside and Left panel. </p> <p>2. Score: inside panel (only) at 5.5". (Mountain Fold).</p> <p>3. Score both Right and Left panels @: 1" (Mtn fold); 2"(Valley fold) and 6.5" (Mtn fold). </p> <p>I matted and added DP to each section (after distressing the edges with Tea Dye ink). The image was colored, fussy cut, and pop dotted to a torn and distressed piece of Vanilla card stock. Leaves, Bird, Sentiment and pumpkin were added for embellishments.</p> <p> A piece of DP was added to the inside of the card for adding a sentiment in the future. Finished measurement of card is 6" x 5.50" with only a slight depth for easy (cheaper) mailing. <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-BkzibEYnRZg/Ui72loNFhqI/AAAAAAAADt4/i3QZffM-fjc/s1600-h/P1030027%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="P1030027" border="0" alt="P1030027" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-UK4ot4RDyak/Ui72mG2TAzI/AAAAAAAADuA/59Nbi2INnwg/P1030027_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="347" height="267"></a>I hope you have been inspired to try out </p> <p>a Center Side Step card. </p> <p>Materials used: 12" x 7.5" cardstock. various matts, Generations "Simple Stars" cardstock, 3-D tape, Copic Markers: E70, E71, E74, E000, E11,R20 RVOOO TR31, YR11 B91, B93, B97, Y38, E97, R27, YL58, YG68, YG25, YR31, RR20. Try It Out Tuesday for Whimsy<p>Hi all, I'm back again after not making an appearance last week. DH whisked me away for a Birthday Dinner as a "surprise" and interrupted my plans to work on a project. </p> <p>Here in the Okanagan Valley fruit is very abundant. Unfortunately, when the fruit is in season, the weather is extremely hot and with all the comings and goings of summer I have always frozen fruit for making something with when the weather and <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-4IthnoEnYyI/UiXfEz3Mo5I/AAAAAAAADqw/wmnxmNX-ZtA/s1600-h/P1030009%252520copy%25255B23%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 0px 5px 5px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030009 copy" border="0" alt="P1030009 copy" align="right" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-KGziokkv9bs/UiXfFogHxfI/AAAAAAAADq4/cF2GhaHRaOE/P1030009%252520copy_thumb%25255B21%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="496" height="453"></a>time permit. Thus my first project. Labels for Strawberry Jam, which I intend to make sometime in the next month or two. The Labels will be perfect for those jars which will be given to friends and neighbors over the holiday season. </p> <p>Materials used:</p> <p> <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_64&products_id=2673&zenid=2f4c4611a9383c885b52bcdd8b8ae987" target="_blank">"Home Made"</a>, a July Release from Momas, for Whimsy Stamps, White Avery Labels 05163 (4" x 2") 10. Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Ranger Antique Linen Distress Ink, Copics: R32, R27, R46, YG04, G24, G28, YG63. Stamp positioner. <a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-FNaG-pF2nVg/UiXfGIhjt1I/AAAAAAAADrA/WUN6Ep6w8iQ/s1600-h/P1030011%252520copy%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 5px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030011 copy" border="0" alt="P1030011 copy" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-3GctPqEVHCE/UiXfGvOrWjI/AAAAAAAADrI/MUqjwgFkI1w/P1030011%252520copy_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="436" height="277"></a> (My picture is showing a lot of "blotches", which I realized is the printing on the back of the label sheet). Because I thought the labels were very stark, I shaded them using a Distress ink. I created a negative mask, by cutting the stamped image from the center of a piece of scrap cardstock. You can see the piece of tape I used to enclose my cut into the image. I used a stamp positioner to place the stamp on the left side of the label. Distress ink was applied by placing the negative mask over each stamped label before coloring with copics.</p> <p> </p> <p>For a second project, the same image was used for a CAS card. <a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-boC-js-TjEg/UiXfHRzH-3I/AAAAAAAADrQ/bAJVWeAApiM/s1600-h/P1030007%252520copy%25255B10%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 0px 5px 10px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030007 copy" border="0" alt="P1030007 copy" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-nb70woDCi-E/UiXfH8cpHlI/AAAAAAAADrY/ozHEMuj5N5o/P1030007%252520copy_thumb%25255B8%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="461" height="450"></a></p> <p>Additional products used: White Copic cardstock, Red cardstock, Corner punch, Black multiliner, Post-it notes or Computer weight paper and repositionable tape.</p> <p>Two masks were created by stamping the whole image onto post-it notes.</p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-8klW3Yodjao/UiXfImu0RlI/AAAAAAAADrg/BqhTKCuyc1A/s1600-h/P1020992%252520copy%25255B15%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 15px 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020992 copy" border="0" alt="P1020992 copy" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Lj8_pKA5tAY/UiXfJLgOIpI/AAAAAAAADro/7cs8QWCuHNw/P1020992%252520copy_thumb%25255B11%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="186" height="244"></a> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-t0NXS9O9plE/UiXfJpz17uI/AAAAAAAADrw/QZKMn_l3W_0/s1600-h/P1030002%252520copy%25255B14%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1030002 copy" border="0" alt="P1030002 copy" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-40JaAWKHvPw/UiXfKFh19OI/AAAAAAAADr4/R1wP-U8F8fs/P1030002%252520copy_thumb%25255B10%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="255" height="310"></a>Measure and draw a line 1/4" from the outer lines of: Top left and side, and Bottom right and side. At this point use some tape to keep the bottom in place. Place your positioner, remove the top left corner of your mask and stamp the image.</p> <p>Stamping the bottom right:</p> <p>Place the (bottom) cut mask (very precisely lining up the edges) onto the lower right corner of the cardstock. Place your stamp positioner acetate or glass over the image. Tape the upper part of the mask in place. Place the positioner, remove the bottom right corner of your mask and stamp the image.</p> <p>A whole image was stamped, cropped and mounted onto red cardstock. The images were then colored with copics, matted with red and placed onto a 5 1/2" x 11" (scored in half) piece of cardstock. The bottom left and top right corners looked naked so I took a black multiliner and drew in "corners".</p> <p>I hope my tutorials gave you some inspiration today to "stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to someone to make them smile".</p> <p>Rubber hugs, whimsy wishes,</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-m17c3vzjn7I/UiXfNyJ1gjI/AAAAAAAADsg/W5_S8WlVW0Y/s1600-h/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529%25255B3%25255D.png"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="madge0902 (1)" border="0" alt="madge0902 (1)" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-FKpeV0gDEPc/UiXfOaq0deI/AAAAAAAADso/8LIlb-zXptQ/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529_thumb%25255B1%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="240" height="123"></a></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7030373614989037382.post-70094241952476022692013-08-20T01:55:00.001-07:002013-08-20T14:39:40.090-07:00Meljen’s Designs– Victorian Boot Daisies<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<br />
Hi all!! Are you enjoying the last days of summer?? Warm water, summer breezes and visiting with company. The days are getting shorter once again, and it breaks my heart!<br />
I have two designs to show you today with an encore of <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_29&products_id=2665">Meljen’s
Designs Victorian Shoe Daisies.</a><br />
This image is so easy to color with very minimal effort. My first card is a 5 1/2 “ x 5 1/2”. The image was stamped onto Copic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink then colored with C4, C7, R05, G25. The daisy centers were coloured with a Viva Décor Gold pen. The daisies were colored with a whte painty pen. Before removing the oval die I sponged the area with TH Antique Linen Distress Inks. The background Lace was punched using a MS Border/Corner punch. <br />
I mounted the die cuts onto Cajun Craze Cardstock, adding the two prima <a href="http://www.onecrazystamper.com/item_7367/Mini-Roses--Soft-Blue-Transition-FLBK03-CB120.htm">flowers</a> with a clear glitter center.<br />

<br />
<br />
As you can see, the card has 3 folds that give lots of Real Estate for
stamping and Sentiments!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Basic Card Materials and Instructions:</u> <br />
<u>Cardstock:</u> 12” x 5 1/4” and 4 1/4” x 3 3/8”. (mine is matching
(green)). Score along 12” edge @ 3/8”, 4 1/4”, 7 3/4” (this
leaves 4 1/4” on right end) Use a bone folder to compact the creases…….
Valley, Mountain, Valley folds.<br />
Lay your 12” x 5 1/4” piece of cardstock flat and mark( with a pencil) the
following: Measure down 1” on the 3/8” score line, and 1”on the 4 1/4” score
line – Join the two with a light pencil line.<br />
<br />
From the 4 1/4” score line to the 7 3/4” score line measure down 3/8” and
join those two marks. The lines on the top of the card will give you a
stair-step effect. <br />
<br />
Place your cardstock on a cutting mat and cut along the lines you just
created with an exacto knife, being careful not to cut beyond the score
lines of each section. Snip down the score line to the cut line.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW-b3J0HJIAj8-DivbQtpL3kLxXV4scrZxVGGPD9VA1Jkp0pU5kkIeD2a7ATDR8dA-5-7rR71eGdBOgqkjdqlgGryz09LO2WQOjSUI3AozcjXS1N7SBs8HPNsQ-rIuv3U-dcOXJjSuSgjh/s1600/P1020990.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="171" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjW-b3J0HJIAj8-DivbQtpL3kLxXV4scrZxVGGPD9VA1Jkp0pU5kkIeD2a7ATDR8dA-5-7rR71eGdBOgqkjdqlgGryz09LO2WQOjSUI3AozcjXS1N7SBs8HPNsQ-rIuv3U-dcOXJjSuSgjh/s400/P1020990.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Adhere the 4 1/4” x 3 3/8” piece of cardstock to the 3/8” flap you
created.<br />
<br />
You now have the basic “Extended” and graduated Base Card. To embellish as
you wish.<br />

A black Sharpie pen was used to highlight the toe and heal of the boot, and darken the leaves. A Gold Viva Decor pen was used to add the centers to the daisies and an Ice White Viva Decor was used for the buttons on the boot. The picture does not pick up the black sharpie highlights under the boot to "ground" it.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>The image below was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Vanilla. Once again I used a Black Sharpie to color the boot heel, toe and buttons. Copic markers were used to color in the leaves and the main boot. (E40, E31, E33) (YG91, YG93, YG25). The boot was pounced with a rag saturated with colorless blender to give a suede effect. The layers of vanilla cardstock were sponged with Tim Holtz "Old Paper" Distress ink. </p> <p> <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-nl_zrSzVTMA/UgoqD-06kVI/AAAAAAAADn8/LWOctqzBmF8/s1600-h/P1020964%252520copy%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020964 copy" border="0" alt="P1020964 copy" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-5qLn5CFch-c/UgoqEijlcKI/AAAAAAAADoE/W6syT6yr_eE/P1020964%252520copy_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="378" height="508"></a> </p> <p></p> <p>I hope this inspires you to stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to put a smile on someone's face.</p> <p>Til next week.</p> <p>Rubber hugs, Whimsy wishes,</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-W_vruIFWHCs/UgoqFtTFCqI/AAAAAAAADoM/6cmdXwR7CwI/s1600-h/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529%25255B5%25255D.png"><img style="display: inline" title="madge0902 (1)" alt="madge0902 (1)" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-MYJZpHRpVk8/UgoqGXjOEqI/AAAAAAAADoU/ZJP6dSRN-HM/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529_thumb%25255B3%25255D.png?imgmax=800" width="208" height="113"></a></p> Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7030373614989037382.post-20784687974678086152013-08-06T04:34:00.001-07:002013-08-06T04:34:21.492-07:00*Wanted* - Try It Out Tuesday #24<p>Hi all. We are finally back to normal at home after attending a wonderful wedding of our Granddaughter. It was absolutely wonderful and the weather cooperated perfectly. Beautiful setting, beautiful bride and lots of "happy tears". My little "C/J" got married.</p> <p>I've done a Scrapbook page for this week's project. A decade ago, when I started scrapbooking, I had a wide format printer - which did not adapt to my new computer, so I had to use 8 1/2 x 11 format...and change it by piecing paper. </p> <p>We had three sons, 14 months, and 28 months apart. It was a handful at times and a ton of fun and adventures. The three of them would play endlessly with cap guns, water pistols and roping their spring horse. Unfortunately my pictures have not aged gracefully and enlarging them did not help. But I thought the idea was cute.</p> <p>Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=2679&zenid=8892a2a6bc683a932edb9b0e4eeaae8f" target="_blank">Giddy Up, RED stamp set of 6</a><a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-jOLDZUkWJxI/UgDfMlROs4I/AAAAAAAADnA/ad9CX87w0hc/s1600-h/P1020958%252520copy%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020958 copy" border="0" alt="P1020958 copy" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-RPakWGZQ_gY/UgDfNjSX0xI/AAAAAAAADnI/X-8LHK7gwGE/P1020958%252520copy_thumb%25255B6%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="493" height="531"></a>, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30&products_id=2683&zenid=8892a2a6bc683a932edb9b0e4eeaae8f" target="_blank">Cowboy Die Set</a>, Cardstock, jute, Silver Embossing Powder, TH Antique Linen Distress ink, words computer generated. Hi all, Madge here for another Tuesday - trying out a Kenny K image called "Tex", a new release for July. I am way ahead of schedule with this one as Denise and some of the DT are <strike>baking</strike> basking in the sunshine and having a blast at CHA in Las Vegas. Denise graciously invited me along, but we have a Wedding....... and if I missed it, my name would be MUDge. <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-5f9t6gH0Uo0/Ue9UE_hFLXI/AAAAAAAADmQ/zpi_Zu0ossc/s1600-h/P1020899%252520copy%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img alt="P1020899 copy" border="0" height="598" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-Yk0VFoNiLGQ/Ue9UFxfpQyI/AAAAAAAADmY/v3Jw00KB2bw/P1020899%252520copy_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin: 5px auto;" title="P1020899 copy" width="573" /></a><br />
Meet <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_35&products_id=2656&zenid=c17ecd51edeb9b05bf09141402b837a5" target="_blank">"Tex"</a>, a July Release from Kenny K. I have a thing about blue eyes, so I tried to give him those "Paul Newman" eyes......dating myself, aren't I??!! Can't say I've seen many cowboys walking around without shirts on, but if they are out there -- YEE HA!! <br />
On the inside of the card I wrote:<br />
<i><span style="color: navy; font-family: Tempus Sans ITC; font-size: medium;"><b>"Herd" you like six-packs.</b> </span></i><br />
<blockquote>
<i><span style="color: navy; font-family: Tempus Sans ITC; font-size: medium;"><b>This one </b></span></i></blockquote>
<ul>
<li><i><span style="color: navy; font-family: Tempus Sans ITC; font-size: medium;"><b>has no calories -- </b></span></i></li>
<li><i><span style="color: navy; font-family: Tempus Sans ITC; font-size: medium;"><b>is easy on the eyes -- </b></span></i></li>
<li><i><span style="color: navy; font-family: Tempus Sans ITC; font-size: medium;"><b>is really easy to mail.</b></span></i></li>
</ul>
There are two gals that come to mind on the Whimsy DT that do the Kenny K images to absolute perfection, Patricia Garcia and LaJenette Garcia. I don't know if they are related, but these two gals really do justice to the provocative images of Kenny K. <br />

Hi all, for another Try It Out Tuesday. The beautiful weather is finally here, and the weeds are loving it!! How do they grow so fast? The lilies are in full bloom and dh is in his glory. <br />
Today's post is using a new June release from "Little Cottage Cuties", illustrated by Elisabeth Bell called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_49&products_id=2589&zenid=dcd05f457c8b21d8ad4886f4c69114f0" target="_blank">"Tweetest Friends"</a>. It is hard to tell from the picture that I did some paper tole on the bonnet and dress, mainly because I wasn't happy with my first attempt of colors. The Whimsy DT expert at paper tole is Mariska van der Veer....her creations are fantabulous!<br />

It is July 2nd and we enjoyed a beautiful hot and sunny weekend of sea air, sun, family and fun. </p> <p>Today I’ve used a Rainbow Echo Design Stamp set, called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=2600">Sun, Moon, Stars</a>, a fun set packed with 4 images and 6 sentiments. <a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-gKqmORiivsU/UdJFS_PiNDI/AAAAAAAADkk/kaG190cNJS4/s1600-h/P1020875%25255B8%25255D.jpg"><img style="background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 1px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px" title="P1020875" border="0" alt="P1020875" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-qeFfeNb3COA/UdJFTZ6XjVI/AAAAAAAADks/ajQ5GQJAXrQ/P1020875_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="256" height="316"></a>I’ve done a simple card, which looks really cool in real life, but because of the glitter doesn’t photograph very well. The stars were embossed with Iridescent Ice and the moon was stamped onto yellow card stock and embossed with the same. All were cut out and arranged around the sentiment, “Shoot for the moon….. Even if you miss, you’ll land amongst the stars.” </p> <p>Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_3&products_id=2600">Sun, Moon, Stars</a>, White, black yellow and navy card stock. Madge here, <em>"Just Chicken In".</em> A friend's hubby has not been feeling well for a while....... when I saw this stamp in my DT pkg, I thought it would make an absolutely perfect card to put a smile on his face.<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/--w9-PVvSroQ/UcjereTaAwI/AAAAAAAADkI/UVYgiGPog4g/s1600-h/P1020790%252520copy%25255B5%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; margin: 5px 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="P1020790 copy" border="0" alt="P1020790 copy" align="right" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-ns4bXlBXWb4/UcjesGVJ3SI/AAAAAAAADkQ/wO3QcznfYU0/P1020790%252520copy_thumb%25255B3%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="512" height="412"></a> </p> <p align="center">I used a June Release stamp by Chrissie Armstrong called <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2580&zenid=2c0697286044014f8a343df9360b4132" target="_blank">Not Fat, Fluffy!!</a> <em>(my new favorite saying).</em> To make the inside a little "egg-stra" special, I wrote in <em>"Sorry to hear you've been "Cooped Up!"</em> Ok, enough sic humor. </p> <p><u>Materials used:</u> Stamps: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_5&products_id=2580&zenid=2c0697286044014f8a343df9360b4132" target="_blank">Not Fat, Fluffy!!</a> SU sentiment, White Cougar Card stock, Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, Copic Markers: R08, YR68, Y11, Y15, Y35, C0, C4, E21, E29, Y26, Y28. From Stash: Maribou feather, jute twine, button, microfine black pen, SU embossing folder. Red and Orange cardstock, Mustard Seed Distress ink (tag).</p> <p><u>Misc. Details:</u> "Chicken Scratch" doodles were penned in around the outer edge of the image and four tiny holes were punched in the hay bale to insert knotted jute. The little chick in the foreground was stamped, cut out and popped up over the jute. If I could have found some yellow maribou in dh's fly-tying stuff, it would have been popped up behind the chickies to make them fluffy ...... but no such luck. I did kidnap a brown one and popped it behind the matted image to add some interest. Did you notice the chicken track stamp across the bottom of the background? </p> <p>Hope today is "<em>Egg-stra"</em> special for you, wherever you may be. Madge here for a second card for Try It Out Tuesday and a sneak peek of a gorgeous Wee stamp called <a href="http://whimsystamps.com/" target="_blank">Sweet Sparkle</a>. When I opened up my DT package this little image literally fell into my hands, I took it as a "sign" and immediately stamped it, colored it, and here is what I came up with. <br />
Isn't she sweet!! Unfortunately, I grabbed a piece of white cardstock which wasn't great for copic markers (it bled). Thank goodness for the "copic eraser" I was able to push the color back and then used W0 to shade around the image. Phew! <br />
Materials: Sweet Sparkle, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic Markers: R00, E11, R20, E40, E33, E35, E39,BG10, BG01, BG05, BG11, G14, YG01, YG07, Y38, Y13, W0. Sakura White and Starburst pens, <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=31&products_id=2180&zenid=4114054f05e52e7f2ab31d207cf833a1" target="_blank">Floral Explosion</a> DP, Glossy Accents, Dazzling Diamonds (sprinkled onto glossy accents on flowers). Gumball, Pacific Point, Vanilla cardstock, Ribbons, Fern Punch and Flatback Pearls from stash. <br />
Head on over to the Whimsy Blog to see all the beautiful creations by the talented Whimsy DT, you will be glad you did.<br />
Til next week, "Stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it on to make someone's day!</div>

Can you believe that June is upon us? Almost summer and we haven't had a Spring yet. My dh says, "it always evens out", so I hope we have a long summer flowing into a warm autumn.</p> <p>I've got two cards for you today, showcasing a <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_64&products_id=2537&zenid=8e5de97c9fb6e249c1fe775f551c24b1" target="_blank">Momas stamp set of 9 (3 images and 6 sentiments)</a> called "Hibiscus and Lily. Both of the colored images are one and the same. This morning I had the card on the far left completed. I love CAS, but it was boring me and I couldn't find just the right embellishment........ Later, I attacked the card and tore off the matted image, fussy cut the image, popped it onto a sponged piece of cardstock and the card you see on the right is what I ended up with. Rummaging through my stack of drawers, I found a piece of metallic mesh, which I laid over white cardstock and sponged with color. I think I should have held out for j<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-6LT90cVlO7M/Ua3GqT_UH3I/AAAAAAAADiQ/k7dwHg5pF34/s1600-h/P1020728%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 15px 5px 10px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020728 copy" border="0" alt="P1020728 copy" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-eIDqINug2_4/Ua3GrJwW_hI/AAAAAAAADiU/XOulWwDenTo/P1020728%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="331" height="399"></a>ust the right embellishments for the<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-rp4UawytI9Q/Ua3Gr2jBl2I/AAAAAAAADig/o_Ezur1K40k/s1600-h/P1020689%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 15px 10px 10px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020689 copy" border="0" alt="P1020689 copy" align="left" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-3X3YiOsrALw/Ua3GsSwkOyI/AAAAAAAADio/Vh_Fxj8znzM/P1020689%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="351" height="362"></a> CAS card, what do you think? </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p> </p> <p>(I apologize for the camera picking up the glare of the glossy accents.</p> <p><a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-4AAP473sgKQ/Ua3Gtb-3zcI/AAAAAAAADiw/A8A0iPAX4bA/s1600-h/P1020731%252520copy%25255B6%25255D.jpg"><img style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 25px 5px 10px 10px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px" title="P1020731 copy" border="0" alt="P1020731 copy" align="right" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-cVbP2H3Jzc8/Ua3GuIaueeI/AAAAAAAADi4/xlKdWfhlJOE/P1020731%252520copy_thumb%25255B4%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" width="381" height="293"></a>Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=19_64&products_id=2537&zenid=8e5de97c9fb6e249c1fe775f551c24b1" target="_blank">Hibiscus and Lily</a>, sentiments and image, Cougar White Cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic Markers: R24, RV23, RV29, R20, G28, YG63, YG24, SU colors: Purely Pomegranate, Pixie Pink and Apricot Appeal. To all of you in the US, I hope you had a marvelous long weekend enjoying Memorial Day. Here in Canada we had our long weekend last week and the weather actually cooperated.<br />
<br />
Last week I mentioned attempting to make a card from one large circle - The ideas started flowing from my one idea and I must say, I ended up with something that is quite different from my original thoughts.<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-WOzIpayU13E/UaR3XrhqhII/AAAAAAAADe4/OJJly7HGjl4/s1600-h/P1020658%252520copy%25255B11%25255D.jpg"><img align="right" alt="P1020658 copy" border="0" height="527" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-YjVoCnnjsTM/UaR3Yk6KjSI/AAAAAAAADfA/A-acRfzl5C4/P1020658%252520copy_thumb%25255B7%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px;" title="P1020658 copy" width="494" /></a><br />
I started with an 8 1/2" circle (cut from a salad plate). Then someone turned the light switch on and I remembered I have a Cricut (sheesh)!<br />
<br />
My sample will be using an 8 1/2" scalloped circle cut from DSP.<br />
<br />
This is long and involved so run and take a potty break and grab a cuppa.....<br />
Version ONE and TWO to follow........with the hint of VERSION THREE.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<u>Start with one large circle:</u> <br />
You will also need:<br />

OMG!! Hang onto your sox people -- it is June NEW RELEASE DAY for WHIMSY....... and if you love water as much as I do, (even bottled) you will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this months' releases. I have a smattering of them in my hot little hands......and I am IN LOVE!! Ideas are exploding from my <strike>well-earned silver haired</strike> head -- like a bag of popcorn in a microwave.<br />
I have a quick and easy-peasie masculine card for you today, just in time for Father's Day......... dressed up with a smattering of feminine touches to <strike>"pretty-it-up"</strike> add some interest. This ship is breathless........ I always think of my Dad when I see a sailing ship. Dad came to Canada from England working on a vessel much like this one, running away from home at the age of 14, after my widowed Grandmother remarried. <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/-X6UsZd2i7Nw/UZregUd304I/AAAAAAAADdw/GQV13JLmByo/s1600-h/P1020627%252520copy%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1020627 copy" border="0" height="396" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-kA7d1fN0N3Y/UZrehSWsFKI/AAAAAAAADd4/RPkOgGu5umQ/P1020627%252520copy_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1020627 copy" width="329" /></a>OK, I do get carried away with memories at times - so let's get on with the real reason for this post. WHIMSY "TRY-IT TUESDAY #15!!! <br />
The base card uses a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of cardstock, scored in half at 5 1/2". The secret to the edge of this card is finding a <u>border punch that punches a full border, punching from one side.</u> (this one is the fancy lace border from SU) Leaving a center panel (1 3/4" in this case) to be decorated with a DP (or not).<br />
Now for the image. I stamped the ship once onto a piece of mottled blue DP (from stash) and twice onto white cardstock. Working from the background of the sails, pieces were cut from the stamped white images and glued over the DP image for a 3D look. The paper pieced image was cut into a 3" circle and matted with a slightly larger die cut and sponged with TH Tea Dye Distress Ink. Two copic markers (BV13, BV17) were used to darken the areas of the inside area of the ship and the water. A Sukura White Pen was used to give the illusion of whitecaps on the water. Really easy-peasie would be to stamp the image onto the white cardstock and sponge a sky / water background. (I always do things the hard way).<br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-KwJ06qFsYdo/UZreh7a6CGI/AAAAAAAADeA/HX5cbna6jsw/s1600-h/P1020621%252520copy%25255B3%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1020621 copy" border="0" height="168" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-qikVQbVbHUI/UZreinSs14I/AAAAAAAADeI/fPRM0iV1zvg/P1020621%252520copy_thumb%25255B1%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1020621 copy" width="244" /></a> This Stamp Set, (3 images and 3 sentiments) is such a mystery, I don't even know it's name!! <br />
Do check into the <a href="http://whimsystamps.com/" target="_blank">The Whimsy Stamps site</a> to see all the goodies and the <a href="http://whimsystamps.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Whimsy Blog</a> to see all the delicious-ness the DT creates. <br />
Materials used: <a href="http://www.whimsystamps.com/" target="_blank">Mysterious New Whimsy Release</a>, Memento tuxedo black, TH Tea Dye Distress ink, 1/2 sheet of Card stock, 1/4 sheet of card stock, pieces of White Cardstock (copic) and DP, Copic markers: BV13, BV 17, Ribbon and flat back pearls (from stash). Double border punch,<br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-Y5QtComFAEs/UZrejfdl4xI/AAAAAAAADeQ/BKC4gYK2nAc/s1600-h/P1020629%25255B4%25255D.jpg"><img align="left" alt="P1020629" border="0" height="321" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/-E0frk8PxoUw/UZrej4kPEII/AAAAAAAADeY/wxDLTBxIawM/P1020629_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 5px;" title="P1020629" width="418" /></a> The cutouts on the front of the card limited the sentiment size so it wouldn't peek through. A die cut similar to the front image was cut rom contrasting cardstock, then a sponged sentiment was 3D taped to the die. <br />
A wide bow to the bottom of the card and flat back pearls to the punched border were added for <strike>a feminine touch</strike> interest.<br />
Hope this has given you some inspiration to "stamp up a storm, ink up a wish and send it along to brighten someone's day".<br />
Next week, I will attempt to show you a different card fold from <u>one</u> very large circle. See you then!<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/-Kn9wcbWnYHg/UZrek5WMuMI/AAAAAAAADeg/jQl6ZKpQMLY/s1600-h/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529%25255B10%25255D.png"><img alt="madge0902 (1)" border="0" height="123" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/-f6198RLpy2Q/UZrelfwgGaI/AAAAAAAADeo/NK5ePEWUeng/madge0902%252520%2525281%252529_thumb%25255B8%25255D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;" title="madge0902 (1)" width="240" /></a></div>
