Tilda is “Just sitting here waiting”.

Two posts in one day!!  Really unusual for me.  I can’t keep away from those sweet little Magnolia’s from Diana's store, Magnolia-licious.
A friend has a Birthday coming up, and I thought I’d make her a card with a daffodil – Here is “Tilda holding a Daffodil. 
I have been squandering a piece of Basic Gray paper from the “Porcelain collection” and decided to use it for a Pink and Green Challenge, the sketch is from Mojo Monday, Sketch 186.    












Here is a close-up of Tilda. As you can see, she is wearing pearls (added with white pearl pen), and the daffodil has glossy accents added.  The “bench” she is sitting on is an MS punch, punched back-to-back.  These little people are getting cuter and cuter……….and I love practicing with my copics……. practice makes perfect, right?

Another Mojo Monday Sketch contest and a chance to wiln a stamp set!  Well, any stampaholic can't pass up a chance to add a stamp to her already daunting collection!

Here is the sketch we had to work with.    I'm sitting at the lake with only Magnolia stamps - so guess what I had to use...............  Midsummer Tilda . She is coloured with copics.  Just love the results of those little markers.

Mojo Monday Sketch 142

I found myself with a little time on my hands today rather than being out in the full sun planting bedding plants.  We've been late putting plants in because of being away for May.  Rather hard to get interested in our poolside planters because our pool is a green slough.  Here in the Okanagan we are under severe water restrictions. City officials have given us the okay to fill  pools once -- but since we need a new liner, we have to wait for the pool company to fit us in.

A friend, (the same friend that fueled the fire for my addiction to Magnolias) gave me an image of Tilda With Glasses, hence the card for Mojo Monday.

The image was stamped with StazOn, so using my copics was out of the question.  I used distress inks and markers. I think I need to practice more.

Another friend told me the reason Magnolias do not have mouths.  Being angels,  they speak from the heart, thus do not need mouths.  All I know is that they are so darn cute, I have to have them all! 

Here is what I came up with for the Contest week for Mojo Monday.

I used designer paper from Me and My Big Ideas that I've probably had for a few years for the front and inside.
Flowers are Prima (aren't they beautiful?)
Sprigs behind the flowers are a Martha Stewart punch.
The tabs are cut from cardstock with spray adhesive applied, then dusted with perfect pearls. 

 The inside of the card says, "Just sitting here, thinking of you".

Mojo Monday Sketch 132

Are you enjoying spring yet?  We have had such warm weather here in the Okanagan Valley and now all of a sudden the temps have dipped.  Lots of snow at Silver Star - good for the ski season, but not good for the fruit trees.

I've slid back into my "monochromatic me" style for this weeks card.  This card, I decided will go to the best sister in the world for Easter. It had to be something special, but not overwhelming - because she doesn't understand "fru-fru". 

The sentiment is from Verve stamps.  The rest is generic stuff resting in my "raspberry & pink" embellishment drawer.

Hope everyone has a blessed Easter with family and friends.  We had planned to head to the Lake to open the 5th Wheel, but have decided to wait a week - the weather being a big factor.

Mojo Monday Sketch 131

The son of  friend's of ours is engaged to be married in July and this card will be sent to the parents who are so proud of this upcoming marriage.  This sketch was a perfect time to come up with a card meant especially for them.

The card base is white, which doesn't show up very well on the white background.  I used the SU Blossoms Abound for the images, the butterfly is SU Beautiful Wings which I cut out and glitzed up with dazzling diamonds.  The white background has been stamped off with Orchid Opulence, but doesn't show in the scan.  I also distressed the ribbon with Orchid Opulence to give it depth.

Mojo Monday Sketch 130

Missed Mojo Monday by a day or so - but Wednesday is good!  Beautiful Sketch by Julee Tilman, one of my favourite bloggers and stamp designers.  Her style is absolutely beautiful - check it out  here, Amazing cards amazing talent.

I was at a loss as to what to do this week, I've had a cough and I swear that every time I cough brain cells are blown apart.  I sat at the walk-in clinic last week with my son, hence the cold, I'm sure.  There is nothing like sitting in a cubicle waiting room surrounded by unhealthy people to compromise your healthy status.

Enough jabber - here is my card for the sketch.  As you can see, I've reverted back to "monochromatic" Madge.  It is safe and happy place to be.  I embossed the SU Medallion and cut the scalloped circles using a Spellbinders set - also used the negative piece to shadow in some colour for a background.  The butterflies and paper are SU.    The phrase is Verve.

Mojo Monday Sketch 129

Another Monday, and I'm feeling good -- A lot of interruptions on this card for the Mojo Monday Sketch129, but I finally got it done, and it's still Monday. -- at least here in the West it is.
For three weeks in a row now I've put my hand in a drawer full of backgrounds and pulled out one to be a piece on my card.  Seems to give me that "added edge", otherwise I could go on for hours floundering in a stack of paper and ink trying to decide what to use.

I used my newest Cuttlebug cut and emboss folder, "Ornamental Iron",  to cut the band and emboss the top background. I really do love the ornamental iron band, which by the way, was cut and mirror imaged to get the full band.

Looking at the scan, this is a very flat card except for the sentiment and flowers that I popped up with dimensionals.  I'm thinking that it will be going in the mail for one of the 12 cards I swap per month.  

So, here it is!  Sketch #129.  Hope you like it.

I looked at my card, and couldn't get to "love" it - so, I glammed it up a bit to get it to look like the right one.  I'm looking at the two side-by-side, thinking that the bow has to go and the 3 flower brads were enough to finish off the card. A typical example of "sometimes less is better".

Mojo Monday Sketch 128

Can you believe that it is March already?!!  The first week of the month is a Mojo Monday Contest week - I'm such a fan of Julee Tilman and Verve Stamps.......and a chance to win a stamp set to add to the excitement, is bliss.  To make it doubly great - yesterday was our SU monthly Stampers 10 meet, which means a trip to Salmon Arm and 3 hours of playing with paper and ink.  There is nothing like an excuse to "play".

My mind always goes blank when I am challenged to do a specific thing.  It must be the pressure!  This time, and it seemed to work,  I put my hand into a drawer of pre-made backgrounds and pulled out one that I think is a beautiful technique using re-inkers and embossing folders.  Thankfully, the rest fell into place.

Mojo Monday Sketch 127

Here we are for another week of Mojo Monday and a choice of round or square.

I've done one card because I happened to put my hand into a pile of scrap papers and chose to work around it.  While looking for brads, I came across some red maple leafs and an idea hit me.........  a red card for Canada........... and since we just got back from the Olympic Games, well, the rest was a piece of cake.  But of course the red maple leafs were too big for the card.......What is it they say about the "best laid plans".......lol


I also got to welcome my Cuttlebug home after loaning it to a friend to make some invitations.  Isn't it amazing that when something leaves your home, you can think of a thousand things you could do with it?  So here are my "interpretations" of Sketch #127.

Mojo Monday Sketch 126

Had a few spare moments this afternoon before heading to Vancouver.

Dogs are at sitters,
bags packed, house cleaned, etc. etc.  I've gotten REALLY brave and incorporated some colour out of my usual monochromatic scheme.   My scans turn out so washed out and look very over-exposed...........  ugh!

The card is really cute IRL!  honest!

Here it is another Mojo Monday contest week.  So many stamps to choose from...........so many colors..............and my mind goes blank.  

I chose a stamp from Local King Rubber Stamps here in BC. It is called Elegant Ladies.

Rather a plain-jane looking card - which could be spruced up with an embossed background - however my cuttlebug has been loaned to a friend for a couple of days.

Mojo Monday - Sketch 120

Happy New Year everyone!

I haven't added anything to my blog for so long - almost forgot about it.  The first Monday of the month and here is my "take" on the Mojo Monday sketch.  It's also a contest week and the lucky winner(s) receive their choice of a wonderful "Verve" set.  

For this sketch, I dragged out an old Stampendous stamp that fit the season, stamped and coloured the image with copics, circle cut around the image leaving the heads popping out of the circle to give the "3-D" image, smooshed some white craft ink over the embossed image and popped some ribbon and beads on -- "voila"!

In August I got an all-in-1 printer, laptop & sound system for my birthday........I have been procrastinating setting the printer up because I don't deal with "new" very well.  It hasn't been a pleasant experience getting familiar with the mechanics of the A-I-1. Thus the reason behind my not adding to my blog.  

 

"Santa" dropped a few surprising items into my stocking - and the jolly old soul did very well choosing -  A Cornish Farms fisherman stamp; glitter; a Hero Arts set of stamps; an acrylic poppy stamp;  Tim Holtz mini misters; some copic sketch pens;.............and lots of trinkets  (all stamp related!!) 

My goal for 2010 is to purge, paint and put hardwood in my "craft room".  The major work will have to be done in warmer weather when I can get my room moved to the garage.  If anyone is wanting "scrapbooking magazines"  please let me know!  I haven't a clue what to do with them and would rather not throw them out..........  all that good shiney paper must be good for something. Somewhere it must be written that throwing out Stamping and Scrapbooking magazines is sacreligious.

Sketch 114

Mojo Monday - and here's what I came up with.  I'm really feeling under the gun these days...........Christmas is fast approaching as it does every year.  It just seems to sneak up and bite me in the butt.  Family is coming home this year and baking, cleaning and decorating all has to be done.....plus we have 2 birthdays in the merry month of December!

After expecting to spend a weekend taking technique classes - they were cancelled a couple of days beforehand by the H1N1 virus.  The instructor was hospitalized and we had the option to have a postponed class in the spring. I just hope Christine gets out of the hospital with a clean bill of health.

Even though disappointment was running amuck - I was rather relieved that I didn't have to go anywhere this last weekend - I finished 2 advent calendars, which wasn't an easy feat for me because my sewing machine bit the dust.....right in the middle of appliquing tiny stockings around a Christmas tree.  My wonderful, faithful Elna, which I paid an arm and a leg for about 30 years ago - just quit.  I remember paying more for that machine than I did for my car (which was only 2 years old).......  it is now in the SM hospital and I'm hoping that they can revive it, although the serviceman had the attitude that anything that old - just needs replacing...........  oh what a throw-a-way world we live in!

Mojo Monday #113

This sketch was a real challenge to me - I couldn't seem to get my head into so many layers.  Patterned paper is not one of my strongest suits.  Everyone is thinking Christmas cards - so I tried to get in the mood for making a Christmas Card. One of my favourite stamps is the SU Cardinal.  Here is my interpretation of the sketch.

Mojo Monday Sketch 112

Monday, Monday - gloomy and chilly - actually a dreary day today -
Here is my interpretation of the Mojo Monday Sketch #112.  I  love Butterflies!  It seems that whenever a new Butterfly stamp comes within my line of vision - I just have to have it.  It amazes me how many different butterfly stamps that there can possibly be!   

For this card - which was really simple, after I decided to use a Vanilla embossed backgroud, I sponged my cardstock with Pumpkin.  The DSP is SU.  The stamp was an acrylic clear stamp that I found in the bottom of my acrylic stamp drawer - I didn't mat it I simply used a black sharpie to outline my "overcut" image.  I really have to improve the quality of my scanning - because I usually end up with a crooked edge.......  not the actual card.

Mojo Monday #111

Today is week number 111 at Mojo Monday. Our first monday of the month my niece and I go to Salmon Arm for our SU Stamper's 10 Group. Our demo is the greatest! We worked with the set called Razzle Dazzle - so when I got home I used some of the paper & techniques that we had used at class. This is what I came up with.

I'm not really happy with my example - but it honestly does look a little better in real life. The image is navy blue glitter and the flowers at the sides of the image are green and blue glitter.  For now I'll have to be happy with this.

Mojo Monday #110

I feel like I should be creating a Hallowe'en card for this mojo challenge - but I did an overkill on

cards for Hallowe'en this year and may my HS rest in peace until next year.  I'm back to my mono-chromatic Madge type of card. I have such a struggle with combining colours and patterned paper.

MOJO Monday Sketch 108

Missed the boat at Mojo Monday last week:(  and it was a contest week to win a stamp set!  Time just doesn't allow some things to happen. 

MOJO MONDAY SKETCH 108

The good news is that I have an example for this sketch.  Believe me, it looks MUCH prettier IRL.

The black background is a black glossy which I stamped with twinkling H2O's. It is really pretty IRL! The flower is cut out and sprinkled with dazzling diamonds. Very pretty IRL.

This week will be a short week because of the holiday (Thanksgiving for us Canadians). Thursday, I leave for Langley to attend the BC Creative Expo.  I am sooooooooooo excited, because I'm taking 3 of Cathie Allan's classes.  It is enough to make me want to do cartwheels (which would not be pretty).  Last year was so great a friend and I stayed at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver right at the convention centre and just inhaled all the goings on! This year will be different - as I will be going to Abbotsford every night. But it will still be fun.

Mojo Monday Sketch # 106

A new card has been created for the Mojo Monday Sketch #106 - so it must mean that another Monday has arrived and gone.  I love the Verve set "Because of You" and I also love Cameo Coral cardstock (SU) - so here it is - my take on Sketch 106 from here.   Of course I had to change it a tad......because my stamp that I wanted to use looked more interesting stamped diagonally.  Hope you like it.  I also noticed in my scan that one of the little seed pearls is missing.......  yep, you guessed it - it got devoured by my scanner - there should be 3 instead of just two.  and............ I promise I will get better in putting this little blog of mine together -- I need help!
